Mooove Over Dull Business Cards
It’s hard for me to have one business card because I’m always involved in so many things.
Should I have one card with a over-generalized title that links to a web page that’s about me?
Should I pick a project I’m working on and use that as my main business card?
Do I just say forget it, because heck, most of my time is spent online, why do I need a business card?
The debate continues, but for now I’m using Moo cards as my main business card. Of course this goes against all conventions because it is not the size of a regular business card, and most networking gurus put that as #1 on the list of do not’s; but I’m going to try it anyway.
I’ll let you know the reaction I get from the corporate types.

I’m looking forward to hearing what the corporate types think.
I confess I’ve been going with the “most of my time is spent online, why do I need a business card” method myself. I’m not real thrilled with it because the traditional brick & mortar experienced part of me says it’s a huuuuge no-no. However, when I worked for a magazine I got business cards from them and I think I handed out about 20 at a convention once - and rarely used the rest, except as things to jot notes on at the store. (Because of course I had a stash in my purse “just in case”. heh heh)
I used to have mommy cards too - my plan was to revamp them when my son was born. But then I realized I only handed out about a dozen or so of those (and they were even FREE for a product review!) - 2 of them were for my daughter’s suitcase during visitation with her father, and the others were handed out mostly to family because they were so utterly cool I wanted to show them off. I gave them to a grand total of 3 moms, as I recall, as a “contact me for more info on homeschooling or a mom’s night out”. I got zero calls or emails. *chuckle*

I also don’t have the chance to hand out too many cards but I’d rather be safe than sorry. I feel like if I don’t have them I’ll be out somewhere and miss my big networking chance just because I don’t have a card. It hasn’t happened yet but I wasn’t going to let that be the cause of me getting some cards so I went ahead and plopped down the $20 or so. That’s also why I went with Moo because I don’t need 500 cards sitting in a box, 100 will do.
