You Might Not Be Cut Out To Work From Home If…
There are basically two types opinions from people who are not familiar with working from home. The first is that it must be the greatest thing to be able to lounge around all day (see: Work at Home Myths); the second is the “Oh, I could never do that” opinion.
I tend to respect the “I could never do that” opinion moreso than the other because it’s true. Working at home isn’t from everyone.
Here are some clues that you might want to consider an office job.
You are easily distracted. You get on the phone to ask a quick question and all of a sudden you are engaged in a 2 hour conversation. Your friend sends you an email link to a website, some time later you realized that you’ve been fumbling at the computer for an hour. If this sounds like you, you might not be cut out to work at home where there’s the TV, phone, fridge, unmonitored internet access, etc.
You need someone to tell you what to do. If “Ok, I’m finished, what should I do next?” is your mantra then working at home may not be for you. You need to be self-motivated and able to complete the work that needs to be done without twiddling your thumbs.
You need to be around people…or you get uncomfortable. If spending most of the day by yourself sounds like a punishment then you may not be a suitable work at home candidate.
Do any experienced work-at-homers have anything to add to the list?

…you don’t know when to let it go.
The greatest challenge I face is turning off the computer. There’s always something more I could be doing. I could write another guest post. I could Stumble just a few more things to get my name out there just a little bit more. I could search “Entrepreneurship” in Technorati just one more time… it’s endless! You need to know when to say “stop”, to get on with the part of your life that is not work.

I have a hard time turning off the computer as well. I always think that I have to keep going in order to keep up with the competition that’s been doing this a lot longer than I have. I’m getting better though.
