Gifts For The Web Addict

Whether it’s a co-worker, boss, client, associate, or friend, here’s a list of great gift ideas…provided that this person is a total web addict. The best thing about these gifts…if you’ve waited until the LAST MINUTE to do your shopping you won’t have to worry because they can be delivered online.

  • Give the gift of flickr. The best thing is if you buy a one year gift, you’ll get 3 months of the Pro service added to your account. This offer expires January 31, 2008.
  • I think a Godaddy gift card would make a great birthday present for anyone with more than 3 domain names or websites. I think this gift certificate would be WONDERFUL (and a subtle hint) for the person who has a blog but refuses to purchase their own domain name. It would also make a nice holiday gift for someone who you are just trying to be nice to.
  • Who doesn’t shop on Amazon? Because the sell just about everything including kitchen sinks, an Amazon Gift Certificate is a great gift for any man, woman, or child with a computer and internet connection.
  • For something that’s a little more personal, try a MOO gift certificate. That way the person can use their flickr pro account that you so graciously gave them in order to print their favorite pictures as mini-cards, notecards, postcards, or stickers.
  • If you really want to be a fancy pants, treat your favorite web addict to a new computer or computer accessory. These gift cards from Dell can be delivered via email.

For the web addicts out there, what kinds of gifts would you like to receive?
Note to my husband, feel free to get me anything on this list. :)

Things That Make My Life Easier: Scheduling Family Time

Everyone doesn’t have the luxury of creating their own schedule, but if you do, I recommend you take full advantage of it.

I’m the type of person who can work all day and all night and feel great about it. Once I get into my work mode, I get extremely annoyed if someone interrupts me. I’ve read that’s one sign of being a workaholic. I don’t want to be like that, so I have to find ways to get off the laptop, and make time for my family.

Anyone who knows me, knows that it’s very hard for me to be away from my computer for extended periods of time. My mind is constantly thinking about what I should write next, what I should have written, promotional materials, networking, and a host of other things.

    .

The best way for me to step away from it all is to plan in advanced. So I’ve set myself up so that I work (mostly) according to my husbands work schedule. If he’s off on Wednesday, I’m off on Wednesday. If he’s off on Thursday, then I’m off on Thursday. Some weeks it doesn’t quite work out that way, but I try my best. I don’t ever want my husband to joke around with me again and say “do I have to post on your blog in order to get a hug from you?” so that’s why scheduling family time makes my life easier.
